Inspired by the utilitarian knot of the same name. Stopper is lost wax cast in Rhode Island from a hand fabricated master. Cord is hand braided in house on a kumihimo loom from 16 waxed polyester thread. There are 4 different braiding techniques used in the process; a supple yet stretch-resistant core, a solid loop, an opening for the core to feed through, and a densely woven tubular outer sleeve. To open the loop, grasp the stopper-end just inside the loop, and pull the small tab in the opposite direction. To close, work the outer sleeve back towards the loop until the loop is snug around the stopper end. The cord is pigmented rather than dyed and will fade to pale white or grey (based on your lifestyle) over time.
